At Highland Academy of Canada, we believe in clear, transparent tuition and fee structures so families can plan confidently. All fees are quoted in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and apply to the 2025-2026 academic year unless noted otherwise.

Description

​Includes up to 8 academic credits over two semesters; prepares students for Canadian and international university admission.

Each course aligns with Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines and grants one full secondary-school credit towards an OSSD.

Personalized tutoring to strengthen subject understanding and help students align with home-school curriculum pacing.

the Non–One-on-One IELTS Program is a mandatory, school-day academic component designed for all full-time international students.

Private furnished bedroom with study desk in a carefully screened Canadian host-family home.

Three meals per day, 7 days a  week (breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Week-day transportation service: pick-up and drop-off between the homestay and campus, Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).

Free high-speed internet access at the homestay residence.

Applies to international students under 18 who require a legal Canadian custodian while studying at Highland Academy

Covers ongoing support and supervision to meet Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements.

Payment must cover the full custodianship duration (up to the month student turns 18) — if the student turns 18 within 18 months, payment must be made in advance for the full period.

Refundable only if the student’s study permit is officially refused by IRCC — documentation required

Note: NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) cheques are subject to a CAD $50 administrative fee.

 

 

Refund Policy

 

IRCC Study Permit Refusal – Documentation Deadline

​

For all fees that are refundable only in the event of an official study-permit refusal, families must submit:

  • A written refund request

  • The official IRCC refusal letter

  • The student’s full name, date of birth, and proof of payment
     

All IRCC-based refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the refusal notice.

Requests submitted after 30 days cannot be processed.


 

Below is a detailed breakdown of how refunds apply to each program and fee at Highland Academy. These policies ensure transparency and consistency for all families.

 

  1. OSSD Full-Year Fee – Refundable only if a study permit is refused by IRCC and the refusal letter is submitted within 30 days; CAD $500 administrative fee deducted.
     

  2. OSSD Credit Course (Domestic) – Withdraw before first class: refund minus CAD $100 administrative fee. Withdraw within first week: 50% refund. No refund thereafter.
     

  3. One-on-One Tutoring – Full refund if cancelled by school; otherwise refundable only if cancelled at least 7 days before first session (20% admin fee applies). No refund after first session.
     

  4. AP / University Prep Course – Full refund if cancelled by school; 50% refund if student withdraws before first class; no refund once course begins.
     

  5. ESL Program – 50% refund if student withdraws before start date; no refund once course has commenced.
     

  6. IELTS Preparation – Full refund if cancelled by school; 75% refund if student withdraws before first session; no refund after tutoring begins.
     

  7. Ancillary Fee – Fully refundable only if a study permit is refused by IRCC.
     

  8. Health Insurance Plan Fee – Fully refundable only in case of study permit refusal.
     

  9. Application Fee / Homestay Application Fee – Non-refundable under all circumstances.
     

  10. Homestay Monthly Fee / Custodianship Fee – Fully refundable only if study permit is refused; no refund once service has commenced.

 

Important Notes:

  • Refunds processed within 8-10 weeks after approval.
     

  • Refunds issued to original payer via original payment method.
     

  • Student name, date of birth, proof of payment, and supporting documentation required for all refund requests.
     

  • Highland Academy of Canada reserves final determination of refund eligibility.
     

 

Scholarships & Awards

To encourage excellence, each year we award scholarships to students for academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.

​

Entrance Scholarship – One-time CAD $10,000 award.

Student of the Year & Graduate of the Year Grants – Awards ranging from CAD $300 to CAD $2,000, used to pay tuition and other relevant expenditures.

Entrance Scholarships – Additional Criteria

To encourage excellence, Highland Academy of Canada offers entrance and year-end scholarships. In addition to the high-level description in the main Scholarships & Awards section, the following criteria apply: 

  • Entrance Scholarship – Eligibility​

    • At the time of application, the average grade of completed subjects is above 88%.

    • The applicant has applied to become a full-time high school student at Highland Academy of Canada.

    • The applicant is willing to participate in a school interview or video interview as part of the selection process.
       

  • Scholarship Review Process
    In reviewing scholarship applications, Highland Academy considers:

    • Academic achievement and intellectual curiosity

    • Integrity, honesty, and readiness to contribute

    • Leadership, initiative, and inventive spirit

    • Breadth of academic and extracurricular interests

    • Community involvement and social responsibility
       

  • Student of the Year & Graduate of the Year – Additional Details

    • Student of the Year and Graduate of the Year awards range from CAD $300–$2,000 and are awarded to one recipient in each category.

    • Student of the Year scholarships are credited to the student’s Highland Academy account and may be used toward tuition and related costs (such as books or lodging).

    • Graduate of the Year may receive the award by cheque or in kind.

    • Additional criteria for Graduate of the Year include:

    Note:

  • The student must be one of the graduates of that academic year to qualify for Graduate of the Year .

  • The student must has received an unconditional offer from a university ranked in the world’s top 50 (as recognized by a major global ranking) to be eligible for Graduate of the Year   .

  • The student must be recommended by at least three subject teachers and the school scholarship committee for Student of the Year & Graduate of the Year..

Additional Information

OSSD Instructional Hours

  • Each Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit officially requires a minimum of 110 instructional hours, as set by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

​

  • Even when delivered as one-on-one instruction, Highland Academy must ensure at least 90–110 contact hours to grant a full credit.

​

  • Shorter one-on-one options may be used as:
     

    • Supplementary Tutoring (approx. 30 hours): extra academic support for a course the student is already taking (no additional credit granted).
       

    • Customized Fast-Track or Remedial OSSD Course (approx. 60–90 hours): accelerated or remedial instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher, as approved by the school.
