International Student Admissions Page

Who Can Apply

 

International students outside of Canada, ages 14–18 (Grades 9–12).

Homestay or approved guardianship is required before enrollment.

 

Step 1 — Submit Your Application

 

Please prepare and submit the following documents:

 

  • Completed and submitted International Student Application Form

  • Copy of passport (photo page)

  • Certified school transcripts

  • English proficiency evidence (IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, Duolingo English Test)

     

    • If you do not have test results, Highland will arrange an internal online English Placement Test

  • After transcript review, you may also complete a short English and/or Math placement test

  • Custodianship documents (required for students under age 18)

  • CAD $300 application fee

  • Vaccination record (recommended for school and homestay placement)

  • Study plan/personal statement (recommended for faster assessment)

Step 2 — Admissions Review & Interview

 

Our International Admissions Team will:

 

  • Review your documents

  • Verify academic level and course eligibility

  • Contact you to schedule a virtual interview (Zoom / Teams / WeChat)

  • Request any additional documents if needed

 

This assessment ensures correct placement and smooth academic transition.

 

Step 3 — Offer of Admission & Tuition Deposit

 

If approved:

 

  1. You will receive a Conditional Offer of Admission and invoice for tuition & fees.

  2. You must pay the tuition deposit (amount: $X) to secure your place.

  3. Once payment is received, you will receive your Official Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

 

The LOA is required for your Canadian study permit application.

Homestay and custodianship arrangements are confirmed at this stage.

Step 4 — Apply for Your Canadian Study Permit

 

Using your LOA, apply through:

 

  • Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or

  • Your authorized immigration representative

 

You need:

 

  • Official Letter of Acceptance (LOA)

  • Valid passport

  • Proof of financial support

  • Biometrics (fingerprints & photo)

  • Custodianship documents (if under age 18)

 

Highland Academy will provide any required supporting documents.

 

Step 5 — Final Registration & Arrival in Canada

 

Once your study permit is approved:

 

  • Submit your approval documents to Admissions

  • Complete final registration and pay remaining fees

  • Confirm homestay, custodianship, and airport pickup

  • Attend New Student Orientation (virtual or on campus)

  • Meet your guidance counsellor to plan your courses

  • Begin your academic journey at Highland Academy

 

Support for International Families

 

Highland Academy provides full support for international students, including:

 

  • Homestay Program (if enrolled):

    private room, 3 meals/day, weekday transportation, free internet

  • Custodianship services for students under 18

  • Visa and immigration guidance

  • Airport pickup, bank account setup, mobile phone assistance

  • 24/7 support line for homestay and student welfare

  • Personalized academic and emotional support throughout the year

Tuition, Fees & Payments

 

International tuition and all associated fees are listed on our Fees & Payments page. Payment methods and deadlines are clearly outlined. A tuition deposit is required before the LOA is issued.

 

Important Deadlines

 

To ensure enough time for visa and travel preparation:

 

  • Apply 3–4 months before your intended start date

  • Popular entry points (September & February) fill early

  • All documents and fees must be completed before classes begin
